Role: Fire dwarves of the Elemental Plane of Fire
Location: The Temple of Volcanic Glass
First met: Session 1: The Last Chain
Azer look like dwarves until you look closely: brownish skin, beards and hair of red, orange or yellow flame, armour of burnished bronze, red velvet, and hammers and axes. They came to restore the ancient The Temple of Volcanic Glass, and the blunt, blocky, rune-covered dwarven work on its statues is theirs. In death their fire goes out.
Twenty or thirty of them lay dead around the temple at every table, almost all killed by tridents, with broken trident tips among them. Two more were alive on the ritual peninsula, chained with the miners. Being creatures of fire, they were untouched by the heat, and once freed they walked out on their own and helped carry the miners. Forge was the only other survivor.
At each table
- Session 1 (Table 1): Caitlyn recognised the dead for Azer. Simley found no magic on them, but runes on the restored statues showed the worship of fire elementals. The two freed Azer got up and walked out by themselves.
- Session 2 (Table 2): Twenty or thirty dead. Cain’s healing reached the two chained Azer too, and once Blackadder sprang their manacles each pulled two exhausted miners to their feet and helped dig the exit clear.
- Session 3 (Table 3): About twenty dead. Zarek identified them, and Bobby found the drag marks through the ash. The two chained Azer could walk through fire on their own, so Zorbin went back for the last miner instead.
- Session 4 (Table 4): A pile of dead with broken trident tips among them; Brendan took one as a keepsake and Argo took a warhammer. Argo and Brendan disguised themselves in their armour and looks. The two freed Azer carried two miners each.
