Role: Runs the only inn in Bitter End
First met: Session 2 Recap - Three to the Dawn
A huge-bellied, bald human with lamb-chop whiskers who cleans his glasses by spitting in them. “What can I do you for?” There are no rooms, only a common room where you can sleep by the hearth for a silver. The menu is stew and ale, and the ale is surprisingly good.

What he told the party

  • The Valley of Lost Bearings: people who cross it seldom come back. Directions and compasses don’t work there. One man came back younger than when he left, and others have wandered out who must have been inside for a hundred years. “Time doesn’t follow logical rules there. It’s like the land has been wounded.” The edge is one watch northwest of town.
  • The warehouses hold what comes out of the Bitter Market: poisons, toxins, industrial chemicals and some medicines (“the dose makes the cure”).
  • Priests of Zehir, god of poison and assassins, come to Bitter End for supplies. A few weeks ago he saw a group in green cloaks walk out toward the valley, and he hasn’t seen them since.
  • The Baronet Sorrel: “Bit of an ass, if you ask me.” He came through about a month ago trying to buy trading rights, which all belong to other noble families, and got nowhere. The innkeeper thinks he went inside the Bitter Market.
  • The Baronet’s bodyguard came with him, stood in the corner “stinking up the place,” and was asked to leave.
  • He knows nothing about the Baronet’s daughter. He doesn’t keep up with gossip about the nobility.
