The British officer commanding the island. Never seen.
He lives in the manor house up in the mountains — lights visible from the beach at night — and the crew never got near him.
What is known of him is entirely secondhand, from a jailer with a knife at his throat:

  • He has had the garrison searching the island for a month for a treasure the previous pirates buried, and has concluded it probably does not exist.
  • He shot Marley in the face because she was the last pirate who might have known where it was.
  • He then had her body broken up and scattered — into a cage frame, a gibbet, a cave floor, a post on a mountaintop.
The treasure was buried on the beach she was left to haunt. The parrots dug it up on their way out.

“Well, we’re morally obligated to burn that to the ground, right?” — unresolved. Left for next time.
