Overview
A century and a half ago Weyland-Yutani launched the Akigara to enormous fanfare, packed with colonists bound for the furthest habitable world anyone had found. She never arrived. Ever since, crews across Rimspace have reported her appearing without warning near their ships and colonies, then vanishing, sometimes taking the witnesses with her.
The crew found her hanging dead in a debris field of ships lost over the past century: a vast cigar-shaped hull, her name scorched half off the plating, old blaster scoring under huge fresher craters. Oxygen was still moving through parts of her.

Dozens of transponders drifting in the wreckage around her, ships marked lost anywhere from fifteen to a hundred years ago, all near the coordinates where the Akigara kept being sighted.
The crew dormitory

Scattered through the ship and presented as preservation chambers. They are conversion chambers: whoever climbs in is broken down to bone and then to ooze and pumped away to fuel the jump drive.
