Tar has wings he can let burst out to catch the air, climbs walls like a spider, and can spit acid.

Veins of Silver Fire

The lift: he went up the shaft wall like a spider, with a light fixed to his boot, to work the jammed platform loose. It slipped, knocked him off the wall and pinned him beneath it, and his companions had to heave it off his legs.
The burrowers: he went into a reckless rage and ran along the wall to reach the first beast. The other caught him in its jaws, threw him against the wall and nearly tore his arm off. He hacked at it until it fell, then took its head off with his bare hands. When the floor collapsed, his wings burst out and he glided down.
The ritual platform: a thrown trident pierced and burned him. He took a salamander’s head off before it could reach Cain, then wrestled free of another’s coils again and again, spat acid over it and gulped a healing potion to keep swinging.
The way out: with Joe he took the freed miners to the exit and, finding it blocked, started hurling rocks out of the way.
