Player: Player 4
Species: Gnome
Class: Wizard
A gnome academic. In the mine she wore a dead miner’s helmet far too big for her, like an oversized sun hat.
Origins
Professor Simley is a gnome wizard on sabbatical from her university, doing field research. She had already spent a few days in Neefox before the others arrived and had made a lot of good, neat deals (friends, she meant). She also picked up a gambling habit there, and somehow won it all back. She had particular luck with the hermit crabs.
Veins of Silver Fire
Session 1: The Last Chain
- The governor: she greeted the governor’s gnome assistant one gnome to another. In the governor’s office she told him that, if they brought the miners back, she would need to talk to him about rights and protections for hermit crabs. He said: Sure.
- The road: she handed round her own supply of healing potions so nobody had to spend their gold. At the camp she read the fractured rock and fallen tents and knew there had been an earthquake. She directed the digging at the entrance (that one over there, that one looks easiest), slipped a few interesting stones into her pack, and asked Ashton to bring workers to clear the rest.
- The burrowers: she spat acid at a bulette from where it had knocked her flat. Then its jaws closed around her waist, and it shook her like a shark and threw her aside.
- Forge: she worked a spell to understand Forge’s Ignan, and answered him on a conjured slate like a professor at a chalkboard: the mine, the collapse, stick figures with frowny faces, and the party carrying them back to the surface.
- The ritual platform: her spell dragged the salamanders into a crawl, and she sent her familiar to drop a healing potion onto Gorr’s horns. When the elemental rose she swelled Char to giant size so that Char could carry two miners, and did the same for another companion.
- The circle: she went with Forge to the altar and held his hand while fire ran through her. When the quake struck she flickered out of sight, but she could still feel his hand, and the words of the chant kept coming to her though she had no idea what they meant. She held on until the portal closed.
