A gnome with a vibrant shock of blue hair standing straight up, as if lightning had just struck him. He shed his heavy robe in the heat. In the ritual circle his hair became living blue flame.

Session 4: The Floor Gives Way
- Bernard: he went over to the old gnome at the quay to ask the way, and Bernard recognised him from the picture on his list.
- The governor’s books: as a man of the book himself, he offered to look over the governor’s accounts in case the pirates were overtaxing him. Vane was flattered. The books balanced, and about a fifth of the mine’s output went to a list of pirate captains, every payment itemised as a bribe. It kept the governor’s eyes off Argo.
- The mule: he admitted he had never ridden a mule and they scared him. That thing is four times my size and approximately eight times my weight. He rode up the mountain on Brendan’s floating disc instead, on his bedroll.
- The lift: when the platform came down on his friends he found the cog in Argo’s pack, slammed it into its socket and cranked the platform off them. I don’t weigh that much! On the way up he threw up a shield of force and the falling rocks bounced off it.
- The burrower: he drove a blast of thunder into the cracked floor at the beast’s feet and broke its plates. In the end he shattered the stone under his own feet. He and the beast fell together; it lost its grip on him and burst on the rocks below while he floated down like a balloon. Ew. Ew. I’m stepping in it.
- The prisoner: he played the disguised party’s prisoner. Speak Common, please. I may be a prisoner, but I am still here.
- The peninsula: he blasted one salamander with a cone of terror, fired five glowing darts into another and burst the stone behind it into shrapnel. The Cataclysm’s first spray of lava knocked him down, and Argo brought him round.
- The circle: he dropped the two miners he was dragging and ran with Forge and Brendan to the altar. When the cavern heaved he slid towards the lava and saw his life flash before his eyes, until Brendan caught the back of his jacket and hauled him back into the circle. They held it until the Cataclysm was gone.
