Role: Servant of Count Demetrius (Strahd von Zarovich); ferryman to Castle Ravenloft
Description
A gangly, unnervingly tall hooded figure who appears at the docks of Marin’s Hold — usually wrapped in a sudden, unnatural mist — to ferry the Count’s chosen guests across the river to Castle Ravenloft. His limbs don’t quite add up: witnesses report more arms assisting them into the boat than should be possible for someone paddling at the same time, and he’s been seen with what looked like several limbs braced against the water itself, as if walking on top of it. Beneath his cowl is no face at all, just a blank, featureless mannequin. He delivers Strahd’s invitations in person and expects a one-silver tip for the crossing.
The Gloaming
Found Captain Gor stumbling through the mist at Marin’s Hold’s docks and delivered Strahd’s second invitation in person, with a pointed warning about what happens to guests who ignore the first one. Ferried Gor across the river at unnatural speed to Castle Ravenloft, then vanished from the dock the moment Gor was through the gates.
