Long before The Second Chance ever left dock, four kids on Prospero’s Dream went looking for a legend — and found something much worse waiting in the dark.
An older friend, Danny, tipped them off that someone was selling the location of Superstar Games, a game studio buried in the ruins of the Choke since the disaster that shattered the planet Gaea. The prize: surviving copies of Grand Theft Space 6000, a game every kid on the station grew up hearing about but nobody ever got to play. Danny wanted to beat the Bratva to the data, and the kids went with him.
Getting there meant crossing an abandoned rail line, dodging an oncoming train by grappling to the underside of the tracks, and slipping past a Tempest guard — a young Cutter — by paging him to the medbay over a hacked intercom. At the drop point, they beat a low-ranking Bratva capo named Yandee to the courier, snatched the data using a drone and a smoke bomb as cover, and lost her people in the chase that followed — though not before someone noticed the smoke didn’t seem to bother Yandee at all.
Docking master (and family friend) Loshe traded them oxygen gear for a promise: bring back an ignition coil from a specific wreck somewhere in the Choke. That errand took them straight through the worst of it — an abandoned shanty town with skeletons torn open at the chest and claw marks on the walls, a plunge down a hidden slide into a lake of eel-things, and a voice in the dark that knew their names.
At Superstar Games, they found Yandee’s crew had already arrived and were still trying to break in the front door. The kids went around back, grappling across a gap between buildings while something enormous and half-melted chased them through the halls — only to learn, once inside, that the same monster had actually been protecting a hidden group of missing kids and adults from something far worse: small, clawed things that tore through gaps between realities to get at people’s hearts. The crew helped fend one off, left the survivors in the animatronic’s care, and found what they’d come for: crates of Grand Theft Space 6000, still sitting untouched in the warehouse below.
They got out with as many copies as they could carry — and, on the way, decided the ignition coil wasn’t enough. They stole Yandee’s whole car instead, and gave it to Loshe.
