Player: Ron
Role: Marine
Origins
A scruffy yet lovable Colonial Marine washout with a powerful love of blowing stuff up. He habitually carries a golf putter that he uses like a cane, and always tries to sneak grenades into his loadout on a mission. He’s a conspiracy theorist who wears the sign of the all-seeing eye so that he is safe from “them.”
The Price of Air
Benny signed on with the crew of The Second Chance to help round out the roster, ready to step up wherever muscle or demolitions are needed.
Benny saw his first real action when the Iron Cross boarded the ship in orbit over Siddhartha’s Peace. He and Jackal locked themselves in the armory the moment the pirates came aboard and waited there, unnoticed, until Bennett II raised them on the comms with a plan. They cleared the locker room and came at the boarding party from the flank. Benny’s first shot — a shotgun blast point-blank into the back of Jax Vanko, whose veins glowed through his skin — did nothing at all except make him say “oh” and turn around to look at him. His second took Vanko’s neck out.
Sent to find out why Weaver had stopped responding, Benny came down to the reactor, found the man’s tools abandoned by the safety rail, leaned over and spotted him crumpled at the bottom of the pit — then went down the ladder into a pocket of carbon dioxide nobody had known was there and dropped beside him. Arnold and Jackal hauled them both out on a paracord hoist. He woke almost at once, and spent the rest of the night making himself useful: suiting up, running spare vac suits out to the people who needed them, and posting himself at the workshop door waiting for a clear shot that never came. Half the crew has taken to calling him “Lenny,” and it shows no sign of wearing off.
Benny went inward with the party that entered the terraforming station. In the Welcome Hall he spotted a gun case hidden in abandoned luggage and came away with a sawed-off shotgun and eight shells, and in the Zen garden he used it to cut through every vine that had hauled Bennett II off his feet. At the security elevator, with the giant’s arm already lengthening across the room toward them, he swapped to his combat shotgun and its last shell and blew the scarred convert’s head clean off — which only made the machine wearing him promise that the crew would die last. On the factory floor he threw himself out of Tanya’s path into a gap between machines and nearly lost an arm to a press, and afterward gave Marge his combat shotgun and half his shells to replace her ruined rifle.
