Role: Servant of Bishamonten on the terraforming station — the enormous scarred convert from the colony uprising, remade
Status: Active — last seen on the bridge before the AI core
On the night Siddhartha’s Peace rose, an enormous scarred, bald convert got both hands around Arnold Wilkerson’s skull at the colony office, and Dax finished him with a knife through the heart. He did not stay dead.
The crew met him again on the terraforming station (Session 5: Welcome, Traveler). He is twice the size of a man now, a biomechanical mass with computers, cables and a flashing screen welded into his body, dragging trailing cables where his feet should be and leaving the station’s conductive gel wherever he goes. His eyes had been replaced with glowing implants; he had no teeth and no lower jaw. He hunts intruders through the station — seeking intruders — and tunnels straight through walls to get where he wants. He absorbs what he touches: he pulled a bulkhead door off its frame and drew it into himself, and his arm can stretch across a room as a single striking tentacle.
He singled out Dax: It’s your turn to see death, my friend. Or better — you will rise as one of Bishamonten’s soldiers, one of the many spears in his quiver. Such as I. To the fleeing crew he said: You will just die tired. Ever since I felt the weakness of the flesh, I was disgusted. Now I am strong. I have replaced the weak tomb of flesh with a wall of beautiful machinery.
Benny Letcher blew his head off with a shotgun at the security elevator. It did not stop him. You have eliminated my last piece of flesh, he said. For that, you will die last. A monitor rose into the place where his head had been and now shows a yellow smiley face. Bennett II’s infrared picked out one warm place left inside him, where a heart would be. The elevator doors severed his arm, which went on trying to fuse into the car until the crew destroyed it. At the bottom of the station he melted through the wall of the AI core chamber and landed on the bridge between the crew and the core.
