Role: Missing co-founder of Siddhartha’s Peace
Genma was the Abbot’s coworker at Straylight and co-founded the colony alongside him — an AI engineer and self-described perfectionist, more interested in the technology than the Abbot’s grander vision. He disappeared around the same time the orbital terraforming station went dark and started broadcasting its prophecies, and hasn’t been seen since. His laboratory, out on an ocean rig, is considered dangerous; salvage crews sent to investigate haven’t returned. Marge’s mission from the Babushka is to recover a genetic sequencer Genma took with him when he vanished.
The terraforming station’s security records (Session 5: Welcome, Traveler) show that Genma arrived there unscheduled from the colony, saying he had experiments to run in his lab on the station. He brought a new training protocol for the station’s AI that he claimed would improve its performance by more than fifty percent; the security officer who noticed that some of his hardware bore a different company’s logo raised it and was silenced by his superior. When Genma boarded, Straylight ordered its staff evacuated — and the shuttle left the lower-ranking employees behind. Besides his lab on the planet, he has an experimental research lab beside the station’s AI core.
