Role: Colonists seeking passage off-world
Franco, his wife Sasha, and their young son Joe approached the crew in the market, begging for passage off the planet — convinced Siddhartha’s Peace won’t survive the next six months. Franco’s wife works on the colony’s hydro/tide generators; Franco himself works at the Agrodome as a xeno-soil biologist. The crew made no firm promises but kept Franco’s contact chip.
They got their passage. On the night of the uprising, two shaven-headed converts cornered Franco and Sasha in an alley and told them purification time had come; Bennett II killed both with a single shot, and the family ran. Dax tracked them to their apartment and took the door off its hinges to collect the fare — four thousand credits, two per adult and two more for the child, paid on the spot with the observation that he was taking food out of a child’s mouth. Sasha, gathering a bag on the way out, said she had never trusted the leaders of the colony: one failure after another, a place meant to be free of corporate greed that had fallen to it all the same. They reached the shuttle on foot, were given a mylar sheet and a chocolate ration for the trip, and complained about the accommodations like people who had once flown better. They are now aboard The Second Chance.
Sasha, Franco’s wife, used to work on the colony’s power generators. When Jon asked the refugees for volunteers at the terraforming station (Session 5: Welcome, Traveler), she handed the baby to Franco and stood up first — I have lots of mechanical skill; what do you need? Jon put her in charge of the civilian salvage team, and she talked four more colonists into joining her to strip the docked ships for air filters and parts.
