Player: Nick
Class: Marine
Background
Rolled a 9 for her Marine loadout at character creation — a strong result that came with Advanced Battle Dress (10 armor, 3 damage reduction, exoskeletal weave, headlamp, HUD, radiation shielding, an oxygen supply, and gyro stabilizers, though no vacuum seal). Traded away a heavy machine gun the table judged too strong for a one-shot. Trained in Athletics, Military Training, Computers, and Jury Rigging.
The Akigara
Helped patch the crew’s own ship during the hull breach on approach, then took point once aboard the Akigara — hacking a terminal to pull a full data drive on the ship and confirm what the cryopods were actually doing to people. Refused to disarm even when Isaac insisted no one needed weapons aboard.
Partway through the escape plan, the ship’s influence caught up with her: she began stripping out of her battle dress of her own accord, drawn toward a waiting cryopod, and had to be tackled by Ned and cut back to awareness by Jerry’s scalpel — which came with an unwanted flashback to the first person ever fed into one of the pods. Later, fleeing for the hangar, a golem of scavenged salvage and flesh broke her neck; an overloaded stim pack from Jerry knit her back together (and left her with a fresh craving for more). Concussed and barely upright, she still managed to empty her last magazine into Isaac’s camera-eye as the crew broke for the dropship. Made it out with her data drive intact — the only real proof of what had happened to the Akigara.
